We know your holiday shopping list is long enough, but we have to insist you add one more name this year: yours. It has been a long 2017. The barrage of political unrest, the devastation around the world, the plight of modern-day womanhood on so many levels…it has left us all empowered and exhausted at once. This holiday season, we want you to give back to yourself, so you can move into 2018 feeling energized, inspired and ready to take on whatever lies ahead…which will hopefully be a little kinder to us than what lies behind.

Here are a few ideas for presents for you, from you. Don’t forget the red bow on top!

1. For your body.

Make your wellness a priority with a personalized vitamin regimen from Care/Of. Once you answer a quick questionnaire, you get a tailored package of pills every month that is perfectly in tune with your body and its unique needs.

A regular massage regimen can also work wonders for the body, both inside and out. But since scheduling one isn’t always that easy, we love Zeel, an on-demand massage service that comes to you – same day, if you really need it, and evenings and weekends, too.

2. For your soul.

Splurging on your soul is always a good idea, especially when it involves getting out of town and away from your everyday routine. Book a creative or restorative retreat for 2018 and give yourself something to look forward to in the new year. Some of our favorites include The Great Jane, Healers Wanted and Nourish

If your budget is too tight for a getaway this year, give yourself the gift of time instead. Block out two hours per week on your calendar – each and every week – for quiet, creative, nothing-but-you time. Use those moments to listen to a favorite podcast, to read, to write, to draw...but make the commitment now, and make it non-negotiable.

3. For your mind.

We spend enough time staring at screens, so we invite you to take up real books again in 2018. Buy them, borrow them, pass them around. Just make sure they are made of paper and pile up high on your nightstand. Some of our recent favorites include A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, The Bright Hour by Nina Riggs and this little box of memoirs. (You can find many more book recs right here.)

4. Just for fun.

Sometimes the best gifts are the frivolous ones. Some of our favorite “just because” picks include this delicious body balm from Aesop that leaves your skin silky without being sticky; this amazing face scrub from goop that gives you that facial glow in just two minutes; a hydrating tonic spray for the face from Rodial and the “booty care” line from Anese, which includes a walnut shell body scrub and a kaolin and bentonite clay mask specially designed to smooth and pamper your booty, diminish stretch marks and unwanted blemishes and slough away dead skin cells. Baby got back, friends. Treat it – and yourself – well.
